had a ring with somebody stating they are with the Road Accident Fund with a promise of a cheque. Only requested for physical address for courier. got identity no., previous address, accident particulars & everything. was this a routing no., by chance?0879405517 doesnt exist when you attempt to ring 'em back.

This number belongs to ECN Telecomms (www.ecntelecoms.com) a South Africa company about to be acquired by Reunert, a JSE listed company. The number is a VOIP line and that is why you can't call it back. However the use of that service to collect personal information from third parties is in contravention of ECN's acceptable use policy (available on their website).

This means you can do something. Contact the legal department and give them the details of the call, tell them you want to know the identity of the person who called you for the purposes of further legal action. They should address your complaint and provide you with the information, if not let this list know can you can consider further legal action such as obtaining a subpoena.

My husband received a call from this number yesterday, stating that they are ISCOR. Told him they owed him money. He used to work for ISCOR and they had all his details.
